the jpg. challenge#1 Create a Self-Portrait WITHOUT SHOWING YOURSELF DIRECTLY
All this year I will be giving you photo phone assignments. They are to make you SEE and THINK.
Each week you will get a new challenge. You must submit 5 shots that solve the problems that you are given. In many cases these pictures are an archive of great ideas to turn into drawings, paintings, and prints. Here are some examples

Pick a Mentor
AT THE BEGINNING- the year starts
Picking a "Mentor" is a very important part of the artistic process. Mentors are those who have forged ahead of us and made a path that we can follow for awhile. There are so many styles and techniques to explore and mentors give us "permission" to try new ways. Some people are natural ITEMIZERS and some are SUMMARIZERS. Students can find which artists they connect with and learn from them.
